Buenos Aires/Patagonia, Argentina
I just want to start by saying that travelling to the country of Argentina was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. The people there are incredible and the country is beautiful and has such a unique culture.
Obviously volunteering in Argentina would not have been made possible without the help of Go Eco. Everything leading up to the trip was incredibly smooth. The company answered any questions that I had leading up to my departure, and had arranged a very easy taxi transfer that led me to my place of residence.
While in Argentina, I lived in the heart of the city in Buenos Aires and travelled daily about 30 minutes outside the city limits to work at a kindergarten in a village called Suarez. While the community was certainly poorer here, both the employees of the school and the children were a huge blessing to work with.
I had a blast being with the kids! I also lived with about 25 other international volunteers, many of whom I seriously consider lifelong friends. I am even visiting some of them this coming summer in Europe where they live.
I believe it is vital for anyone college aged to gain some international experience, and while doing so, why not volunteer your time in a region that can certainly use your help?
If you as a reader do decide to travel to Argentina, take full advantage of all that Buenos Aires has to offer. Tons of food and nightlife are right around the corner! If possibl,e visit nearby Uruguay and Iguazu Falls. While I did not have the time to go to Patagonia, I certainly regret this and wish I could have. I wish to travel back to the great country of Argentina in the near future. If I do decide to do so, I will once again make arrangements through Go Eco!
