Porto , Portugal
While I doing the Porto Hospitality Internship for six weeks, I wished I could have stayed longer. I was a bar tender and I found a golden opportunity to learn about both Portuguese and also international beverages.
Porto is one of the most popular and touristic cities in Portugal. Therefore I was able to visit the top attractions including, Douro Valley, Dom Luis I Bridge, Clerigos Tower and Lello Livraria and much more. Apart from this, Porto is a very lively city for nightlife where streets are full of people and also clubs are open until 8 am with music pouring out into the streets.
My experience volunteering in Portugal was absolutely full of benefits and opportunities such as travelling to other cities in Portugal, including, Braga, Provoa da Varzim, Guimaraes, Gaia, Aveiro, Lisbon, Sintra, Faro and Lagos. This meant that I had a lot of time to visit other breathtaking cities which in turn bettered my understanding of Portuguese culture, wines, and music.
During my intern hours, I met lots of great people from more than 40 different countries and I built many new friendships. Also, the managers and staffs were also so friendly.
All in all, I improved my communication skills and gained valuable experience such as customer service experience which is extremely beneficial for my future career. – Seniha
